WSI Oak Ridge GM Wins Leadership Award

Congratulations to John Burleson, general manager of the WSI Oak Ridge team, who recently won the Robert E. Gonia Leadership Award at the East Tennessee Regional Leadership Association’s (ETRLA) biannual forum.

A local newspaper, The Oak Ridger, provided some background on Burleson's service to the community - the basis of the award.

"Burleson is active with the United Way of Anderson County. He serves on the United Way’s board and Executive Committee and has agreed to chair the 2007 United Way Gala. His company is a major contributor to the United Way’s Golf Tournament, Gala and the Great Tennessee Turbo Turtle Race."

The paper continued with Burleson's long record of leadership in the Oak Ridge area:

"Burleson is also very active with the Red Cross, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the Tennessee Center for Labor-Management Relations, the East Tennessee Regional Leadership Association and Leadership Oak Ridge, serving on the board of directors of each organization. He led ESGR efforts in East Tennessee to have companies agree to meet “Five Star” ESGR support criteria. WSI-OR became the first company in Tennessee to meet these stringent requirements of support for deployed Guard and Reserve employees."

John Burleson is a shining example of the types of leaders employed by Wackenhut Services in all of the communities they protect. If it's true that you are judged by the company you keep then WSI stands in good stead because of men like John Burleson.

Keep up the great work John!
