Oak Ridge Boys visit WSI-Oak Ridge

Country music legends The Oak Ridge Boys recently visited Wackenhut Services Oak Ridge Central Training Facility for a weapons and vehicles demonstration. WSI-Oak Ridge sponsored The Oak Ridge Boys Concert as part of the Oak Ridge Secret City Festival. The group also toured the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Four promoted at Oak Ridge

Congratulations to WSI-Oak Ridge team members Samuel Byrd, Jarrod Hess, Virgil Hester and Tim Johnson who have been promoted to sergeant, security police officer (SPO) II.

Samuel and Virgil had previously been rank SPO II working in the protected area of the Y-12 complex. Jarrod was previously an SPO II in the perimeter control sector, and Tim was previously a SPO III.

WSI Oak Ridge Team featured in Small Arms Review magazine

The June issue of Small Arms Review features a good read on the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) efforts to safeguard America's nuclear weapons and materials.

The piece profiles the weapons and functions used by the paramilitary forces guarding DOE installations across the country. Several WSI Oak Ridge personnel are featured in the photos accompanying the article and the cover photo features Wackenhut Services Security Police Officers Jennifer Seiber and Randy Seay.

Butch Toon promoted to Employee Training Manager at Oak Ridge

Congratulations to Butch Toon who was recently promoted to the position of Employee Training Manager for WSI at Oak Ridge!

In his new position Butch is responsible for the Protective Force training approval program, the annual training plan, computer-based training and curriculum development, the training and emergency management self-assessment program, the DOE Basic Instructor Training Course, and other training-related programs.

A Kingston, Tennessee native, Butch has been an integral part of the WSI-OR team, previously serving as Curriculum Developer and also as Firearms and Tactics Instructor and a Captain with the Security Police Force.
