WSI Savannah River Site honors employees of the quarter

Congratulations to the following Wackenhut Services, Inc. Savannah Test Site team members on being named Employee of the Quarter in their respective divisions:

SPO Keith Siegler, Security Employee of the Quarter; Stephanie Price, Employee of the Quarter; Danny Bowles, Administrative Supervisor of the Quarter; and Lt. Terrell Bailey, Protective Force Supervisor of the Quarter.

Wackenhut Services Inc. Vice Chairman Jim Long was recently interviewed by Directorship Magazine for a story on the latest developments in conducting board of directors meetings online.

Courtney Henry of WSI-Oak Ridge was named to one of the United Way of Anderson County (UWAC) work committees, according to a story in today's Oak-Ridger.

Savannah River Site Humanitarian Awards announced

Congratulations to Joseph Brown and Frederick Tymeson for receiving the Wackenhut Services, Inc. Savannah River Site Humanitarian Awards. The awards are presented annually to two employees who demonstrate a commitment to community service and volunteerism.

Joe, who leads a youth group at Cedar Creek Church in Aiken, S.C., also served as a mentor for a student enrolled in the South Carolina Youth Challenge Program, which targets at-risk youths. He also volunteers at Christ Central in New Ellenton, S.C., an organization that administers after-school programs for local elementary school students.

Fred has been a volunteer Firefighter with the Allendale County Volunteer Fire Department for the past 28 years. In 2007, he underwent surgery and donated one of his kidneys to a friend and fellow firefighter who was suffering from a potentially life-threatening medical condition.

WSI Oak Ridge aids Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee

Congratulations to the Wackenhut Services, Inc. Oak Ridge team members who raised over $2,500 to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee as part of the organization's Bowl For Kids' Sake event this past weekend in Knoxville. In addition, WSI-Oak Ridge served as one of the corporate sponsors for the event, which raises money to mentor area children.

WSI acquires RONCO Consulting

Wackenhut Services, Inc. has acquired Washington, D.C.-based RONCO Consulting Corporation, one of the world's premier humanitarian and commercial mine action, ordnance disposal and security companies, WSI President and CEO Dave Foley announced today.

"The purchase of RONCO affords us immediate expansion into the international market and significantly increases our core capabilities," Foley said.
