Congratulations to Wackenhut Services, Inc.-Savannah River Site (WSI-SRS) team on winning the top award at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Security Protection Officer Training Competition (SPOTC) recently in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
WSI teams from Oak Ridge and Nevada Test Site placed second and fourth, respectively, in the eight-team competition, which included the largest sites in DOE.
Teams from WSI have earned the Secretary's Trophy five-out-of-the-last-six years. WSI-SRS has won the event eight times (1984, 1985, 1986, 1991, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008) and WSI-Oak Ridge, which began competing in 2000, won the trophy in 2003.
The WSI-SRS SPOTC team included Team Leader Casey Petosky, Tommy Goodson, Joshua Zeigler, Anthony Tisbert, Ncholas Mothershed, Jonathan Perry, and Gideon Hornung. Mike Howard, a Wackenhut Training Instructor, was the team coach, and Noel Hilton was the SPOTC fitness coach.
SPOTC is a tactical, skills-oriented firearms competition held at the National Training Center's Safeguards and Security Central Training Academy. The four-day competition was open to teams of protective offices from across the DOE community that competed in several categories.
